Florida Orange

Wear it while it's in season, orange isn't gonna last long. A squeeze of the summer color is hot right now! The key to pulling off this shade is in details, not an over-power, dominating punch of the color.

Akademiks came out with four glossy stripes balanced by a patent white background on a bowling bag shape. Refective orange makes a pop and the simple twist of a braided handle eases the color into the AKDMKS usual.

Mixing style trends,"Letangsale" by Aldo has a low-cut contour which is going to be the new upgrade to flats.

My boy " Bobbito", a Nike Air Force 1 Premium has orange done the right way. Mixed in are wheat, bright cactus and beach, nice color combos.

Smart Snakes

Snakes are slithering into style for the next couple of seasons. Yes, Summer and Fall are going to be filled with serpentine finishes on accessories. Alright, enough with the alliteration but the reptile print has emerged from its cave and is subtly replacing the feline prints of last year.

Steve Madden has "Candyce" ($149.95), a stacked espadrille embossed in smooth python. The T-strap style has hardware buckles to ruff up the summer look of this 5-inch wedge.
Photobucket
Slithering on your waist, Urban Outfitters has their super sneaky "Wrap Snake Belt" ($24) that constricts the waist and bites closed with a snake buckle.
Photobucket
Silver snake coloring for BCBGirls was the way to move for the "Onella" ($78.95) sandal. Featured on Nordstrom’s most recent catalogue, the sporty wedge has an urban sneaker style. And it's another heel with a T-strap front (hint hint) and a streetwise rubber sole.

Sterling silver "Wrap Snake Necklace" ($50) by Betsey Johnson came out early Holiday 07 season. The head and tail, which clasp the necklace has diamonds showing as the eyes as well as filling the tail.

Alright, sorry snakes, cats out of the bag, as much as I love the snake trend, I still love certain cat pieces.

Invest in FAFI

The name does sound like an Internet connection (Wi-Fi) but Fafi is a French designer who started out drawing graffiti on her hometown walls. Making her witty, independent, strong, vulnerable, etc., feminine stereotypes, Fafi launched a huge obsession with her following the Fafinettes. Attention spread and now she's all over the place. Fafi has hooked up with Adidas's Adicolor, Le Sport Sac, Sony, MAC, Married to the Mob and beaucoup more. Oh and lets not forget her music sister Uffie who is now the celebrity model for Married to the Mob, ahh sisterly luv!

We Want Wind

Swish Swish Swish. A reminiscent sound of 1984 is coming back to 2008. Windbreakers, the airy delight is making a round again to the jacket scene. Take a drafty tour of this decade’s new feel.

Like a scene out of Style Wars, Zoo York’s "Make Your Mark 2 Windbreaker" is covered with street graffiti and NY anti-graffiti articles. Great way to show bombing and still represent the brand with Zoo York’s logo and brand name stitched on the chest. Find it at Pacsun for $49.50.

Oh so sneaky sneaky Adidas has a special surprise if you want to buy one of their light jackets. How about a special 2 for 1 deal! "The HFF Reversible Windbreaker" is, as it’s called reversible. One side has the basic black windbreaker classic, good for any situation. Then BAM! reverse this sucker and get a pastel geometric pattern that sneak attacks those who think you were just wearing the simple black. This windbreaker still carries the traditional 3 stripes on the sleeves so the brand is obvious. 2 for 1 ‘s are always better!

Marc Jacob’s Mistake

Well, more like misplace. I think it’s rather genius, way to bring art, architecture and pure insanity to a pump. I love it! The shoe speaks for itself. Marc, I bow before you in minimalist pleasure. Insane.

i dream of Jeany

Have you seen the crazy colored jeans recently in style?! Hot pink jeans are cute… when you're 12! Lets have this trend move to a subtle style, presenting tonal stitching . Have your much wanted heart embroidery on your derrière but have the stitching match your denim. With that, stick to the basic denim colors, i.e. darks, lights, blacks and gray. This way when all your jeans are in the laundry, you wont be stuck with Smurf blue jeans for a night out!

" The Pistol Pant” by Royal Bones for Tripp NYC is a good monochromatic choice. A black skinny denim with same tone stitching that adds a ruff appeal to a basic jean. Pick what you like and keep it subtle.

("The Pistol Pant" $60)

Now guys have a whole new trend with their denim. I'm noticing high waisted cuts for guys but the pants are still worn baggy. The reason for this higher approach, ahh, to fit the man tramp-stamp. What? Let me explain, adding these extra inches of denim to their pant helps make more space to fit a graphic design or script. Now guys can still wear their jeans and keep them lookin classy but if the man tramp-stamp shows, ladies will find the hidden design and decide whether she likes the dragon on his jeans or if she should pass.

Fella's should stick with the designs two ways, go for a sophisticated look with cursive print like "The Know1edge x Diamond Supply Co. Raw Jean". A smooth lookin design with the very now diamond design. The two streetwear designers, Know1edge and Diamond Supply Co. tagged up together to develop this limited pant with authentic Japanese denim.

The other way to go is bubble graffiti. Make the design big and bold and illegible. Usually its going to be the designers name on the pant but not being able to read the script makes a great icebreaker. Here’s the "Babylon Sneake Cut 101 Denim " by Shmack. It’s dark denim, has a great urban cut and a sneaky stamp with big color combinations.

Don’t get me wrong, I love colored jeans, but it's a trend for the select.

Please Don't Go!

Fashion is fading away. Leaving us slowly but surely. Ok, a bit of an exaggeration but the old trend of fading is coming into a new rebirth. This time, adding shiny patent to this color technique has a different urban airbrush approach to the regular spray can flow.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Aldo has "Arnoldoa”, a classic pump with a quick fade that has the patent leather lookin street smart but still feminine. ($80/ top right/ Aldoshoes.com)

Bakers has "Zoe", their peep toe comes in four reflective colors; black patent, pink, yellow and blue. Hiding in the corner of "Zoe", her own cutout popping through the color transition. ($59.95/bottom right and lower row/ Bakersshoes.com)

While the fade is coming back, its not on haircuts, sorry Vanilla Ice. Only shoes can handle this spray-paint / airbrush style. Adding to this reoccurring notice are stencils. Now don't come busting out old heart stencils unless Michelle Tanner is your fashion icon. I'm saying an elegant stencil detail on simple pieces.

Take Urban Outfitters "Free People" racerback tank. It’s just a striped cotton tee with an origami appliqué of flowers. ($78/top left/ Urbanoutfitters.com).

Subtly mix the two trends and make a fresh outfit, but don’t overkill with too much trend! Pick any faded patent heel, add a stencil shirt, throw on a high-waisted jean and you've got a genuinely thought out look with no effort but all fashion. Quick hint…with the gray top I’d go for the yellow "Zoe" shoes, keep it current.
